Leadership Summit: Dialogues on Racism

Leadership Summit: Dialogues on Racism

One of the most renowned principles of American culture has been the understanding that America was and is intended to be a patch-work quilt made up of many different races, ethnicities, and cultures. Unfortunately, the proliferation of racially charged events in the media has directed a majority of the attention on diversity and race to the rifts in this quilt. In December 2014 Millersville University Graduate Students partnered with the Lancaster County School counselors association to encourage change and make a lasting impression would be to cultivate social interest, knowledge, and understanding with students across the county through a united conference of youth and community representatives. Thus, the “Leadership Summit: Dialogues on Race” was created. Last year’s Summit hosted nearly 150 students from across Lancaster county to engage in meaningful discussions and learning opportunities about race with the help of talented and motivated volunteers to facilitate these experiences.
