Description

This is an exciting time for you and your student! Millersville University wants to create a strong partnership with you; one that best supports your student in reaching their educational objectives.

What is GRIT?

GRIT is passion and perseverance for long-term and meaningful goals. It is the ability to persist in something you feel passionate about and persevere when you face obstacles. For many students today, being in college is more difficult than ever before. Developing "grit" can be a means to succeed.

What is GRIT for Families?

Your student will be invited to a GRIT session during orientation. We want to give you the tools to help them make the most of the information. During this dynamic and engaging session you will 1) learn to be an advocate for your college student, 2) discover the most critical piece of advice for the average college student and, 3) develop a growth mindset so you can empower your student to succeed.

Register and receive a special gift for your student!

When you sign up to attend the GRIT presentation, we will provide your student with an access code to complete the CliftonStrengths assessment.

CliftonStrengths is a Web-based personal development tool built upon positive psychology. It identifies patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior at which we excel and encourages us to use the related “talents” more intentionally to create success in all aspects of our lives. It supports the University’s efforts to promote GRIT by giving your student a tool to increase persistence and supports a growth mindset by building on what they already do well.
