Faculty Research Interests

Dr. Ned Dixon

DR. NED S. DIXON joined the Physics Department in January 1987, as an adjunct assistant professor and became a regular part-time assistant professor in the fall of 1993. He received his B.A. (1971) in Mathematics and Physics from St. Olaf College, and his M.S. (1973) and Ph.D. (1980) in Physics from Stanford University.

His research interests include studying the local structure and magnetic properties of materials, especially rare-earth amorphous alloys. These studies have used the Mossbauer effect and magnetic susceptibility or magnetization measurements, primarily at very low temperatures (down to 50 mK).
