The Millersville University definition of Sustainability is “improving the quality of human life while living within the carrying capacity of supporting eco-systems". This conveys the idea of sustainability having quantifiable limits, but it is also a call to action, a task in progress. Sustainability at Millersville University is the long-term maintenance and responsibility, which has environmental, economic, and social dimensions, and encompasses the concept of stewardship, the responsible management of resource use. Millersville University recognizes the reconciliation of environmental, social equity and economic demands as the "three pillars" of sustainability. Click here to learn more.
