EAR Program

Description

The Emerging Artist in Residence Program at Millersville University is a unique residency opportunity open to emerging artists who have completed their Bachelor's degree and seeking an experience that will allow them to concentrate on their art practice for approximately one academic year, from August to the middle of May.  Popular areas include but are not limited to ceramics, fine-art metals, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture.

Volunteer Responsibilities ...

The EAR in each area will volunteer 12-15 hours per week as arranged with the area faculty member. They will be expected to assist with studio maintenance, and participate in, and assist with, introductory through advanced classes in their respective area.  During the residency, the EAR will have complete access to various studios and equipment, as well as the university library, and will have the opportunity to meet with fellow residents and faculty for critiques and discussions. The EAR's will be given the opportunity to showcase the work they have completed during their residency in an exhibition that takes place in March in Sykes Gallery in the Department of Art & Design.
