Art & Design Ι Artist Talks

Spring 2021 Ι MARK YOUR CALENDARS ...

In addition to upholding the tradition of hiring special guest speakers to promote their own disciplines, faculty members of our department have put together their own series of artist talks.  Whether they are promoting a well known artist through an artist talk, or teaching the acquisition of new skills through a workshop, the faculty members from the Department of Art & Design bring pride in illustrating to our students that the skills they are learning in the classroom can transform into lucrative careers beyond their education.

  • 2/25.2021 @ 12:05 pm Ι For the Love of Making w/ Prof. Jeri Robinson

Prof Jeri Robinson Lawrence from the Dept of Art & Design"For the Love of Making" is part of a lecture series providing an opportunity for our Millersville University community to gather together and celebrate the accomplishments of our College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences colleagues.

Jeri Robinson-Lawrence will speak about her creative and scholarly research. Robinson-Lawrence joined the Millersville University Department of Art & Design in 1992. Having earned her MFA degree from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1988, she has maintained an active and prestigious scholarly record since 1986. As a self-labeled lifelong learner, Jeri actively seeks out new ways of making and is most interested in working with sustainable materials. Due to this interest she can regularly be found working with wool from her own flock of rare breed sheep. Jeri is also Co-Owner, alongside her daughter, of Flying Fibers, a full-service fiber arts shop located in Landisville, PA. Together they designed and manufactured their own line of yarn under the Flying Fibers Yarn Company label, all of which is hand-dyed by Jeri. Their debut yarn, Yorkshire Medley, is a DK weight blend of Wensleydale and Blue Faced Leicester hand dyed wool.

So please support the Dept of Art & Design's Prof. Jeri Robinson Lawrence in this talk.  All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend.
