About the Exhibition ...
Nature Unpreserved is Carlie Pearson’s most recent body of work exploring the ideas of nature, man-made, growth, resilience, and death. Pearson creates the works in this exhibition by using various materials including mud, moss, rocks, paper, grass, roots, seeds, and more. These works focus on natural, organic forms, not meant to represent a specific object or idea. As the viewer circles Swift Gallery, Pearson invites the viewer to create their own interpretation of the abstracted forms, as well as to ponder the relationship between nature and art.
About the Artist ...
Carlie Pearson was born in 2001 in Baltimore, Maryland. She is currently a BFA candidate in Art at Millersville University of Pennsylvania in Millersville, PA. Pearson has been included in a variety of group exhibitions, including the Annual Juried Student Show in 2023 (Sykes Gallery, Millersville University of Pennsylvania, Millersville, PA) and the Annual Juried Student Show in 2022 (Sykes Gallery, Millersville University of Pennsylvania, Millersville, PA). Upcoming shows include Inquiry (Swift Gallery, Millersville University of Pennsylvania, Millersville, PA) and Nature Unpreserved (Swift Gallery, Millersville University of Pennsylvania, Millersville, PA). Pearson currently lives in Red Lion, PA and works in Lancaster, PA.

To the MU Police Station for a Parking Permit ... As you drive down N. George Street, you will come to the intersection of N. George Street & W. Frederick St. (library is on your right). If you make a right, and proceed to the Boyer Building parking. The University Police Station is located on the first floor of the Boyer Building. Please stop in to request a free daily parking pass from the attendant at the main desk. You may also request a parking pass online via this link: Parking Division | Millersville University This parking pass will be valid for white lines spaces only.
To Swift Gallery ... As you proceed down George Street. On the left, you will see the Sugar Bowl which will put you on Normal Avenue. At this turn, you will see a campus street sign for "Breidenstine Hall" (Department of Art & Design). Stop at the first Stop Sign and proceed straight. You will pass Biemesderfer Stadium and Chryst Field on your left hand side. A little further on the right you will see a square brick building with teal and white placards with the words "Art & Design". This is Breidenstine Hall, your destination of 46 E. Frederick Street. Sykes Gallery will be on the ground level of this building. Please address the department secretary in room 101 for access to the entrance for handicap accessibility.To the Bus Parking Lot ... West Cottage Ave & North George St.
PARKING PERMITS
Daily campus parking permits are required before 4:00 pm and available at the campus Police Station in the Boyer Building on W. Frederick St. (behind the Library). These permits will only be valid for white, not yellow lined spaces. The station is open from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. (717) 871-4357.
