Honors, Awards, and Scholarship Opportunities for You
The Department of Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology at Millersville University recognizes its exemplary students. Honors are available to students in all three of the programs offered by the department for undergraduate and graduate students. The awards and recognitions come from a variety of sources including Millersville University, professional organizations, educational organizations and industry.
Awards and scholarships available to Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology students:
The Dr. Joseph J. Abromaitis Family Student-Athlete Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time student who participates in a varsity sport program and expects to continue that participation in the year the scholarship is awarded. The recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA and be a rising sophomore, junior, or senior.
American Industrial Hygiene Association Scholarship
Awarded to students who are majoring in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health or a related discipline who have demonstrated a proclivity toward industrial hygiene.
American Society of Safety Engineers/Raymond C. Mullin Award
Awarded each semester to an exemplary junior of senior majoring in the Occupational Safety and Environmental Health program.
American Society of Safety Engineers, Lehigh Valley Chapter Award
Awarded to an Occupational Safety & Environmental Health junior or senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrated financial need.
Richard F. Brenner '41 Industrial Technology Scholarship
Awarded to a rising sophomore majoring in the Applied Engineering, Safety and Technology department, with first preference going to a student receiving teacher preparation. The recipient will have a CGPA ranging from 2.5 to 3.25 and satisfy financial criteria.
Robert V. and Virginia K. Brown Scholarship in Industrial Technology
Awarded to a rising sophomore majoring in Technology Education or Applied Engineering and Technology Management.
C-P Flexible Packaging, Gary Nicholas Memorial Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time rising senior in the Occupational Safety and Environmental Health program at Millersville University who matriculated from York County. The recipient must have a QPA of 3.2 or greater in the program, with consideration given to acceptable overall QPA.
Paul W. Eshelman Memorial Scholarship
A cash award given to a junior Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology or Technology Education student for excellence in wood technology.
Henry J. Kauffman Award in Metal Technology
An award granted to a senior Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology or Technology Education student who in the opinion of the Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology faculty has attained distinguished achievement in metal technology.
Richard S. Levandusky '58 Technology Education Scholarship
Awarded to a first-year student majoring in Technology Education.
Foundation for Technology Education Donald Maley Spirit of Excellence Outstanding Graduate Student Citation
Awarded to recognize excellence in graduate-level scholarship and leadership potential in Technology Education. The recipient must be a professional member of ITEEA and enrolled in the Technology Education graduate program at Millersville University.
William McGorty '82 Excellence in Printing Award
This scholarship will be awarded to a senior Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology major with a minimum GPA of 3.0, who consistently produces high quality work, displays innovative ideas, and demonstrates outstanding commitment to the printing profession. First preference will be to a student working towards a BA in Graphic Communication or a B.S.E. in Technology Education within the department.
Dr. Dale H. Messerschmidt Technology Education Scholarship
Awarded to the full-time sophomore with the highest GPA at the end of the first semester of his/her sophomore year in the Technology Education program.
Burl N. Osburn Award
Awarded annually to a student who excels in Technology Education.
Instrumentation Society of America Central Keystone Chapter
Awarded to a junior or senior Applied Engineering, Safety and Technology student who possesses a QPA of at least 3.0 and is committed to specializing in and demonstrating outstanding performance in transportation/energy/power. Presented by the Instrumentation Society of America, a nonprofit organization dedicated to automation professionals.
Philadelphia Alumni Award
Awarded to a Technology Education major who demonstrates the best qualities of a technology education teacher.
Dalton E. Smart Humanitarian Scholarship
Awarded annually to a student making a significant contribution to the education of classmates through positive interactions, thought-provoking questioning, and insight into the impact of technologies on humans. The recipient must be junior or senior with a minimum 2.5 overall QPA.
The Steinman Foundation/Intelligencer Printing Freshman Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time freshman in either the associate or baccalaureate degree program in Applied Engineering and Technology Management or Technology Education with a demonstrated interest in graphic communication. Administered by the Susquehanna Litho Foundation.
The Steinman Foundation/Intelligencer Printing Upperclassman Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time junior or senior Applied Engineering and Technology Management/Technology Education major with a demonstrated performance in graphic communication and a 3.0 GPA in the major. Administered by the Susquehanna Litho Foundation.
J. Richard Steinmetz Technology Teaching Award
Awarded to a Technology Education senior who has high potential to become a successful teacher, as evidenced by outstanding performance in student teaching and excellence in professional and technical areas.
Technology Education Association of Pennsylvania William J. Wilkinson Scholarship
A $1000 cash award to promote the growth and leadership of prospective Technology Education Teachers. A high school senior or graduate who has been admitted to, but not enrolled in, Millersville University's undergraduate Technology Education teacher education program must submit an application to be considered. Recipient is selected by the Technology Education Association of Pennsylvania Scholarship Committee.
Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering Outstanding Industrial Technology Award
An award to recognize the performance of an outstanding Millersville University graduate of Industrial Technology who is currently employed in a position which significantly impacts the success of the organization. Nominee must have graduated at least 10 years ago and must have held progressively responsible positions in business, industry or government. The recipient is nominated annually by the faculty of the Department of Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology and selected by the Industry Division of ATMAE.
