Psychology

Welcome

Our Mission Statement

The Department of Psychology provides excellence in teaching, advisement and mentoring towards developing competent and responsible citizens who ably apply psychological principles in their workplaces, in their studies, in their communities and in their lives.

Through learning experiences in and out of the classroom, our undergraduate program prepares students who are well-versed in psychological theories and scientific methodologies and who demonstrate cultural sensitivity and embrace a variety of points of view.  The faculty is committed to preparing students to make informed choices among options that include entering the workplace in human service, business, or industrial settings as well as pursuing graduate study.

At the graduate level, our programs seek to prepare ethically informed practitioners who have the knowledge base, technical and relationship skills, cultural sensitivity, and professional dispositions to collaboratively work with diverse populations in the community as school counselors, school psychologists, and clinicians. We seek to develop caring practitioners who apply critical thinking skills as they engage in the best practices of their professions.
