Millersville University gives back in a variety of ways.
Millersville University takes great pride in being part of the Millersville Borough and the larger Lancaster County community. Civic engagement, outreach and volunteerism are important parts of a well-rounded education for all students at the 'Ville.
The Office of Civic and Community Engagement (CCERP) serves as the primary vehicle at Millersville University to foster, focus and coordinate civic and community engagement and research. The office manages the Walker Center for Civic Responsibility & Leadership, the Center for Sustainability and the Center for Public Scholarship & Social Change. The office also oversees the Experiential Learning and Career Management (ELCM) office, which helps connect students with internship and work opportunities; and runs Volunteer Central, which facilitates community service, service-learning and federal work study opportunities.
Many student-run organizations also make community service a priority for members. The Center for Student Involvement and Leadership (CSIL) is the hub for students who want to get involved on campus and in the local community. The University's sororities and fraternities are dedicated to ongoing philanthropic initiatives including blood drives, service projects and events like Relay for Life.
“Through Volunteer Central and ELCM, I had the privilege of becoming an AmeriCorps volunteer, which gave me an opportunity to serve school-aged children in the Lancaster community. I also networked with professionals and developed leadership and people skills, in addition to hands-on experience organizing events.”- Anyae Boomer | 2016
