Bio

After graduation I worked with the Development Office by calling alums soliciting donations for the College and student scholarships. Because of that I earned a Lifetime Free Pass for all sporting events which I have used on many occasions.

I had little “leftover” time to engage in the University while raising three very active sports sons. I always knew that I would spend time at a place I loved. When I retired completely from my career, I knew that helping out/volunteering at Millersville was a must in trying to give back to a place that I loved and felt gave me a superb education both for my career and for my daily life.  I started with volunteering with several different programs and ended up spending 200- 300 hours a year. I participated in Move-In Day for Freshmen, Every Graduation for the last twelve years, and Mock Interviews for Senior Education majors. I joined the HUB’s free lunch program twelve years ago and am still buying the food, making the food and serving the food to needy students on the second Thursday of each month. I researched what the Alumni Association was doing and decided to apply to be a Board member. I was voted on as a Board member for four separate terms. Per the MUAA bylaws, I then had to be off the organization for one full year. I have since been elected to three more terms.I have served on the Events Engagement, Awards and Scholarship and Membership Committees.  In 2021 I humbly accepted the Outstanding Volunteer Service award given by the Millersville University Alumni Association.  In 2024 I was also recognized as a Marvelous Marauder. My career consisted of 21 years as a classroom teacher, one year as a High School Counselor and four years as a Behavior Specialist with the Harrisburg School District.

My wife and I still reside in Millersville five blocks from the University. We have been empty nesters for at least fifteen years.
