Golden Bear Tapestry Audio Guide

Work 4: Golden Bear Tapestry, 2015

Digitally woven cotton, fabric dye, embroidery | 71 x 53 in.

Concept: I started to use images of my older work to create new ones, welcoming a feedback loop of memory, seeing, and action. I expanded on my language of craft by adding dye and embroidery to continue to open space for interpretation.

Process: I took a photograph of the folded Golden Bear wall sculpture and had the photograph woven into a blanket. Then I painted the white section with pink and yellow fabric dye, embroidering over sections of the pattern with three colors of yarn.
