Work 9: Hawk Eyed, 2017
Digitally woven cotton, polyester, thread on hinged wood stretcher | 70 x 50 x 3 inches
Process: I combined previous craft techniques such as stuffing and layering, cut holes in one piece and placed it in front of another piece to create a layered effect. Both pieces are on wooden stretchers and hinged together on the side so it can be opened like a door to reveal the inner image.
Concept: I imagined people would be curious about what was behind the front layer and then they could open it and reveal what was inside to create surprise. This piece was shown with the Unseen wall sculptures and it felt like a door to the world the Unseen beings came through.
