Dr. Walter Parrish III '07

Dr. Walter P. Parrish III joined the board in 2026. He graduated from Millersville University in 2007 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and later earned a master's degree from Old Dominion University and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. While at Millersville, he was deeply involved in campus and community life, serving as a resident assistant and peer mentor, and participating in the Black Student Union, Gospel Choir, All Campus Music Organization, and Concert Band. He also worked in several student- and community-support roles, including with PSECU, the Financial Aid Office, Lancaster City Center YMCA, and the Crispus Attucks Community Center.

Parrish is currently assistant vice provost for faculty affairs at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he leads campus-wide initiatives for faculty recruitment, development, and inclusive excellence. He is a higher education scholar-practitioner with extensive experience across institutions, including roles at New York University Grossman School of Medicine, the University of Chicago, George Mason University, and Drexel University. He is also a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

As a committed supporter of student access and success, Parrish has contributed to the African American/Latino Alumni Scholarship and remains dedicated to expanding opportunities for underserved students.
