Student Learning Outcomes

Students Will:

  • Demonstrate a familiarity with key figures in the history of philosophy
  • Demonstrate an understanding of important philosophical theories from different cultural traditions
  • Be able to articulate how some key philosophical theories are significant for social issues of the present
  • Engage in critical reasoning by appropriately applying the techniques of informal and formal logic
  • Be able to read primary and secondary philosophical literature critically (as evidenced by raising salient questions or criticisms)
  • Be able to communicate arguments effectively
