Graduates of this program receive a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Language and Literacy Education.
What Will You Learn?
Both concentrations within the Language and Literacy Education program incorporate professional core studies courses about research methods, student psychology and education philosophies, and specialized required courses.
The English as a Second Language (ESL) concentration encourages graduate students to study and practice second language acquisition, linguistic diversity and language interventions through a clinical practicum. Students concurrently study literature, linguistics and other multicultural aspects. As Millersville University is an approved provider of a Program Specialist-ESL certificate, graduates of this program are eligible to receive ESL add-on certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
