LGBTQ-Friendly Campus Pride

Campus Pride Index at MU

One Year Anniversary of George Floyd

Since 2007, the Campus Pride Index (CPI) has been the premier LGBTQ national benchmarking tool for colleges and universities to create safer, more inclusive campus communities. The free online tool allows prospective students, families/parents and those interested in higher education to search a database of LGBTQ-friendly campuses who have come out to improve the academic experiences and quality of campus life. The primary goals of the Campus Pride Index is to set forth a national standard for improving the quality of life for LGBTQ and ally people on college/university campuses and to assist campuses in becoming more LGBTQ-friendly. ( ,2021)

At Millersville we believe that an inclusive community is a core value that is an essential part of the foundation for our community. Millersville is firmly committed to supporting our LGBTQ community and creating an inclusive and affirming campus. In the spring of 2021, our Campus Pride Index Committee completed the CPI assessment and Millersville scored a 3.5 out of 5 stars. This is a pivotal moment for Millersville being that it is our first time completing the Campus Pride Index and now that we know where we stand we can continue to renew and strengthen our commitment to our LGBTQ community, and work towards progressing and increasing our LGBTQ initiatives.

A special thank you to our CPI Committee J Whitlow, Lori Souder, Adam Boyer, Kristina Diefenderfer, Ari Camel, and Nathan Sterry and for their strong work.
