Fire Safety Plan
The Fire Safety Plan is a comprehensive plan directed at preventing fires and actions to take if a fire occurs.
Millersville University has developed processes to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and industry standards regarding the prevention of and response to fire related emergencies. This plan will apply to all facilities owned or operated by the University. This includes off campus University buildings and on-campus facilities for which the University has contractual obligations relating to use and maintenance.
The Fire Safety Plan is a comprehensive plan directed at preventing fires and actions to take if a fire occurs.
This policy applies to all Millersville University employees and contractors involved in welding, cutting or braising of metals, in areas other than those designated specifically for that purpose.
Apply for an Open Flame and Special Effects Permit.
Building Evacuation Points have been designated for all campus buildings. These should be used as a gathering point in the event of an incident and should be the location where students, staff, and faculty congregate for accountability purposes...
The PASS acronym is an easy way to remember how to properly use a fire extinguisher in an emergency:
Pull the pin at the top of the extinguisher.
This breaks the security seal and allows you to discharge the extinguisher.
Aim the nozzle or hose at the base of the fire, not at the flames.
Targeting the base helps extinguish the fuel that’s feeding the fire.
Squeeze the handle or lever slowly and evenly.
This releases the extinguishing agent.
Sweep the nozzle from side to side at the base of the fire.
Continue until the fire appears to be completely out—watch carefully in case it reignites.
