The Department of History and Philosophy offers training in the liberal arts in History, Philosophy, and Military Science along with a certificate in Ethics. The department’s B.S.Ed. in Social Studies trains students who want to become secondary school educators; upon successful completion of the program, students are certified to teach Social Studies in 7th through 12th grades. The department also offers an M.A. in History.
Through the Post-Baccalaureate Certification Program, students who already hold a bachelor’s degree can be certified to teach Social Studies without have to complete a second degree.
