Performance Poetry Production

Abstract: My thesis will consist of a performance poetry production that I will direct, write, and stage in Fall of 2021. The story centers around a romantic relationship, and it will be organized according to the phases of a relationship. This performance poetry project will essentially be a show, with rehearsals, actors, a choreographer, lighting, a set, and sound. I would like to have Millersville University actors perform the poetry, but I am open to using other actors if necessary. The performance will be recorded so my thesis committee may review it after it takes place. This semester I am conducting the research and writing aspect of the project. In Spring of 2022 I will prepare the written component of my project and defend my thesis to my committee. The written component will be an assessment of my performance poetry production, including what I have learned, the steps it took to put on the production, the research involved, and the strengths and weaknesses of the project.
