Modern manufacturing has become exceedingly complex because of rapidly increasing technology.

MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY (MFET)
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE, (B.S.); 4-YEAR PROGRAM

The Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology (MFET) introduces students to the fundamentals of engineering, materials, and production processes used within industry. The curriculum provides in-depth technical content in advanced manufacturing with an emphasis on automated manufacturing and computer integrated manufacturing. Students get to design, develop, and construct projects in laboratory-based courses. Technologies commonly used in industry are emphasized throughout the curriculum. Seniors are encouraged to participate in a cooperative education or internship experience to further enhance their knowledge in technical areas within an industrial environment.

The Manufacturing Engineering Technology major integrates meaningful learning experiences in applied engineering, science, and advanced manufacturing to provide a practical education that prepares career-ready graduates for success in a range of high-demand STEM fields opportunities that exist locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. The program is balanced with general education components so that graduates develop critical thinking, writing, and communication skills to support advancement throughout their careers. Advanced Manufacturing Technology
Associate's Degree (2-year, typ)

The Associate of Technology in Applied Engineering & Technology with a concentration in Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AET-AMT) is a 2-year degree program that shares many of its technical core courses with the MFET degree. This abbreviated program is for those individuals who need the hands-on experience with the devices, tools, and technology related to manufacturing, but don't need the management preparation. We designed the associate degree program to get students the education they need in a hurry, and it also seamlessly can be applied towards a bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology in the future. The link below will open a new tab with course requirements and descriptions. 

Associate of Technology in Advanced Manufacturing Technology Catalog Description

Minor in Advanced Manufacturing Technology

Students who minor in Advanced Manufacturing Technology complete 18 credits of technical courses. Four of these are core materials, manufacturing and computer-aided design classes with the option of advanced study in polymers and ceramics, wood technology and computer numerical control (CNC).

Students are encouraged to participate in industrial internships to gain valuable, real-world experience that complements their academic and technical preparation. Internship opportunities span areas for management, industrial and mechanical design, graphic design, 3D modeling and printing, technical illustration, and packaging design and prototyping. Many internships include significant management components, with responsibilities in planning, organizing, directing, and supervising workplace activities. The student, employer, and AEST faculty work collaboratively to ensure each internship provides the highest possible learning value—both in technical skills and professional development.

Clubs & Activities

SME – Millersville University. SME (formerly the Society of Manufacturing Engineers) is an organization for individuals, students, educators and companies involved in all facets of manufacturing. Founded in 1932, it is dedicated to advancing and educating the manufacturing industry. SME focuses its efforts on several areas of manufacturing: aerospace and defense, energy, medical and motorized vehicles. 


'Ville Robotics - Association of Technology, Management & Applied Engineering (ATMAE) Student Chapter (aka MU Robotics Team) The MU Robotics Team has earned 50+ awards since 2001 in national or international robotics competitions. The team boasts seven national robotics championships.


Robotic Worx Program

Robotic WorX is an industry-aligned program designed to spark student interest and provide hands-on experience solving real-world robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing problems. The program helps address pressing workforce and process challenges by developing proof-of-concept solutions through student-industry collaboration. Find out more here


Forging & Blacksmithing Club - Members can explore the techniques of blacksmithing, forging, and metalworking. The club aims to inspire a passion for forging by promoting research and understanding new skills by creating functional tools or artifacts through hands-on experiences, workshops, collaborative projects, and competitions. All levels of experience are welcome.


Epsilon Pi Tau (EPT) – Beta Phi Chapter. Epsilon Pi Tau is an international honor society for professions in technology. At Millersville, this includes Technology & Engineering Education, Applied Engineering & Technology Management, and  Occupational Safety & Environmental Health majors.
