About the Exhibition

James Gallagher is an award-winning educator and artist.  He has taught both public school students and college students locally.  Generations of students have benefitted from his commitment to his art and craft as a teacher who is also an artist of serious accomplishment.  Starting as a painter, exposure to ceramics led him to immerse himself in the pursuit of ceramic knowledge.  He also came to embrace uncertainty as part of an ancient process: fire and earth.

The collection of art on view is marked by extensive travel and a keen sense of discovery. Remarkable examples of ceramic work exist side by side with painting, and print making, in the exhibit. Each piece in his collection has a story and serves as a source of inspiration, and a reminder of the personal and professional impact

The current exhibition features paintings, prints, and ceramic works made or collected by Gallagher over the course of a lifetime.
