EPPIIC Weekend 2025
WELCOME!
Provided below is a generalized schedule of events and programs for EPPIIC Weekend. Information related specifically to you appears on your personalized orientation schedule, available online through your mySpyglass account. It is recommended you download and print a copy of your perosnalized schedule to have with you for the weekend.
The orientation program is for all incoming students - residential, commuter, first-time-in college, and transfer. You are expected to attend programs on each day of EPPIIC Weekend, from Thursday, August 21 through Sunday, August 24.
You have been assigned toan Orientation Group, or "O-Group." Your O-Group is led by one of our Orientation Leaders (OLs) - a current MU student who has been trained to assist you in your transition to college and who is excited to do so. Your OL may reach out to you prior to the start of EPPIIC Weekend to get you connected to others in your O-Group and to share information related to your arrival and participation. THURSDAY, AUGUST 21, 2025
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Residential Student Orientation Check-in
Follow the directions on the Housing and Conference Services Blog to arrive at your designated check-in time. Check in to your residence in the lobby of the building.
4:00 – 6:30 PM Dinner on Your Own
Family members are encouraged to have a last meal with their students before departing campus. Students and families may choose to dine off-campus or sample the food in the Gordinier Hall Upper Deck. A student’s meal in the dining hall is covered by their orientation fee; parents and family members will pay the MU community rate.
4:30 – 5:30 PM Commuting Student MEETING
Student Memorial Center, Reighard Multipurpose Room (114)
The commuter student welcome session is designed to help commuting and off-campus students start strong. You’ll meet fellow commuters, learn about key resources, and discover how to stay connected and involved throughout the semester. Whether you're driving in, taking public transit, or carpooling, you’ll leave feeling more confident and supported.
6:45 – 8:00 PM O-Group Meet-Up
The Quad
Rain: Student Memorial Center, 'Ville Courts
Meet your Orientation Leader (OL) and other members of your orientation group on the Quad – the large, grassy area outside of the dining and residence halls. Consider your O-Group to be a “home base”; a group of students you can connect with and will attend programs with throughout the weekend. 8:30 – 11:30 PM SGA’s EPPIIC Night
Student Memorial Center
Join members of the Student Government Association (SGA) at Millersville University for a night filled with excitement and fun. Take a few laps around the roller-skating rink, create your own tote bag, write a note to your future self and design and fly the school’s best paper airplane. 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM Department Meeting [REQUIRED]
Consult your personalized orientation schedule, available through your mySpyglass account, for the location of your departmental meeting.
Attendance is required – bring your class schedule to this session! Meet with faculty and students in the department of your major and receive critical information related to your course of study.
11:00 AM – 11:30 AM Secondary Education Meeting
Stayer Hall, Room 208
If your education degree program includes working with students in grades 7-12, you must attend this brief session for a better understanding of the education requirements of your degree.
11:15 AM – 1:00 PM LUNCH

1:15 PM – 2:15 PM Starting Off Strong [REQUIRED]

Engage with faculty and staff from University College to learn more about Starfish, D2L, success coaching, advising, tutoring, mentoring, library resources, community engagement, and more for success in your first semester at MU.
2:30 PM – 3:30 PM O-Group Meet-Up

3:45 – 4:45 pm Academic Convocation [Required]

This is the first formal ceremony for the incoming class, marking the start of your first academic semester and your Millersville University academic career. The Millersville University President, Provost, Faculty, staff, and students will formally welcome you to the campus community. The 2025 Educator of the Year will offer words of encouragement for the EPPIIC start of your educational experience at Millersville.
4:45 PM – 5:15 PM Incoming Class Photo

Gather with classmates on the Quad for a class photo with Millersville University’s President, Dr. Daniel A. Wubah.
5:30 PM – 7:15 PM Dinner – Grill it, Toss it, Crush it!
Gordinier Patio/The Quad

Enjoy a late summer barbecue meal (grill it). Play cornhole (toss it) and relax before you “crush” the start of semester on Monday. Music provided by live bands featuring MU students.
7:30 PM – 9:00 PM CANDLE LIGHTING CEREMONY [REQUIRED]

Join your fellow classmates at The Pond for a formal greeting by the University President and other campus leaders. This reflective tradition will begin to connect you to the thousands of students and alumni that have preceded you at Millersville.

Looking for something low “key”? Take a few minutes to create your own keychains with local Lancaster artist/vendor, Cult Classics.

Dr. Christopher Irving was born and raised in Paterson, NJ and is a proud product of the Paterson Public Schools. He received his Doctorate in Education Administration from Seton Hall University in 2016. He is currently the Superintendent of Schools in East Orange, New Jersey. In his role as Executive Director and CEO of the Ceceilyn Miller Institute, Dr. Irving travels the country as one of America’s most sought-after speakers and trainers on issues of leadership and community-building. Learn about the resources and supportive services available from the Center for Health Education and Promotion (CHEP). Sample interactive, educational programing done by the CHEP Peer Educator team. You'll leave with a "CHEP in your step" to make smart choices and live a healthy lifestyle while at college.

Choose from any of the sessions offered throughout the afternoon. Programs are 45 minutes long with most being repeated.

- Understanding Credit:Learn the basics of credit scores, how to build and maintain good credit, and the impact of credit on your financial future.

Explore Millersville’s nine (9) Dimensions of Wellness while learning how to navigate common college student challenges like stress, anxiety, loneliness, and the transition to college life. Gain practical coping strategies, discover on-campus resources, and reflect on your personal goals for well-being and connection. You’ll create a vision board to creatively map out what a healthy, meaningful, and empowered life at the ’Ville looks like for you.
Foundations of Leadership: Start Strong at the Ville

In this interactive workshop, you’ll explore how leadership is not about titles, but about everyday actions rooted in personal values and strengths. Through reflection, discussion, and group activities, you’ll identify what leadership looks like and how you can lead in meaningful ways across campus life—from classrooms to clubs to residence halls. You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of your unique leadership style and how it connects to your college experience.

We’ll review ways study abroad can fit into a four-year academic plan and important information on researching programs to match graduation requirements. D2L Brightspace Orientation

D2L is an integrated learning platform designed to create a single place online for instructors and students to interact, either for a completely online course or as a supplement to a face-to-face course. This session will introduce you to the D2L environment and prepare you for using this resource in your classes.
Campus Recreation Orientation

Discover how to stay active, healthy, and connected during your college experience! Join Campus Recreation staff for an engaging session that introduces the wide range of programs, services, and facilities available to help you thrive — from intramural sports, group fitness classes to club sports, outdoor programs, and student employment. After the overview, take a guided tour of the Rec Center and explore the fitness floor, equipment, courts, studios, and more. Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or just looking for new ways to stay active, this session is your first step toward finding “your fit” on campus!
Introduction to the MU ROPES Course
Behind Pucillo Hall & Field
Start your college journey with adventure! This hands-on workshop introduces new students to Millersville’s Challenge Course, including a climbing wall and select low and high ROPES elements. Connect with fellow students, try something new, and learn more about how to get involved with the Ropes Course. No experience needed. Please wear close-toed shoes and have access to your MU ID.

Silent Disco (8:00 PM – 11:00 PM)

A silent disco is a dance party where people listen to music through wireless headphones rather than a traditional speaker system. Instead of a loud, communal experience, each participant chooses their own music channel and controls their volume, creating a unique, personalized dance floor.
Super Smash Slugfest (8:00 – 10:00 PM)
Student Memorial Center, Reighard MPR (114)
Join us for an exciting Super Smash Bros. crew battle where two teams face off in a high-stakes showdown to prove their dominance! Choose your side: RED or BLUE. If your team wins, there is a small prize for everyone supporting the winning team! Other prizes, such as a Super Mario Game & Watch, Nintendo Joy-Cons, and a Nintendo Switch, will be raffled off. After the main event, there will be casual set-ups to enjoy playing the game and making new friends.
