About the Exhibition ...

CADAVERS is a body of work by Julia Smith exploring the odd, the underappreciated, and the bittersweet. Smith’s work focuses on grotesque themes, often featuring unsightly subjects such as flesh, decay, and medical oddities. Diagnosed with OCD in 2021, Smith uses these concepts to convey the effects and anxieties associated with her diagnosis. Other conceptual interests for Smith include memories, mortality, and how the passage of time relates and interacts with these themes.
