About the Exhibition ...

Paper/Work is an exhibition of paper-based artworks and documentation of student learning from ART 523 Curriculum Seminar. After learning the basic process for creating handmade paper from household supplies, students identified questions and curiosities about paper as an artistic medium. These curiosities resulted in student-led inquiry and lots of experimentation. Experimentation is a site of rich learning, and documentation of the process can make that learning visible to others.

Paper/Work presents an emergent approach to curriculum. An emergent curriculum is responsive to the interests of learners and manifests as learning happens. Documentation of learning is a central task of learners and instructors who embrace this approach to curriculum and allows for the exhibition of student learning as a pedagogical context for the artworks on display.
