peyton simmers - operational meteorologist at accuweather

Peyton SimmersPeyton Simmers received his undergraduate degree in Meteorology with a minor in Emergency Management from Millersville in 2025. Peyton was involved in various activities during his time at Millersville, including the Campus Weather Service, Project TILTTING and the NASA Investigation of Microphysics and Precipitation for Atlantic Coast-Threatening Snowstorms (IMPACTS) project. In addition, he served as both the vice president and president of the MU AMS student chapter in consecutive years. In the summer of 2024, Peyton interned at AccuWeather in State College, PA, where he helped with forecasting and presented two projects. After graduation, Peyton returned to AccuWeather where he is currently an operational meteorologist. His day-to-day tasks include client-specific forecasts for severe thunderstorms, hurricanes and winter storms around the United States and sending products to those clients. Peyton is also a member of the long-range team at AccuWeather and creates seasonal forecasts. Occasionally, he prepares forecasts for international clients as well. Peyton enjoys forecasting for various areas to help make a difference, ensure that people are prepared for any weather event and, in turn, save lives and protect property.
