Most organizations welcome all interested students, regardless of major, while one is an invitation-only international honorary fraternity that recognizes academic achievement and professional excellence.

american meteorological society (MU-AMS)

The American Meteorological Society club at Millersville University (MU-AMS) not only helps students build upon what they learn in the classroommbut also presents them with numerous opportunities to network, discover new career paths, and build friendships that will last a lifetime. MU-AMS takes pride in promoting a welcoming environment, developing diverse connections with professionals in various disciplines, and giving back to the community. Special events, fundraisers, and even national competitions are among some of the projects in which the MU-AMS is involved.

Campus weather service (CWS)

A trademark of Millersville University's Meteorology program is student participation in the Campus Weather Service (CWS). Regarded as one of the most trusted and reliable sources of weather information in southeastern PA and the Lower Susquehanna Valley, CWS forecasts are produced by our student meteorologists three times a day (2 on weekends). Under the supervision of Weather Information Center Director Kyle Elliott, students learn to apply mathematical and scientific concepts taught in their core classes through a hands-on forecasting perspective. CWS forecasters issue three products: a short-term forecast, brief weather discussion, and 7-day outlook. Students learn to not only produce a timely and accurate forecast but also focus on its impacts to lives, property and different lines of business. In addition, students are given the opportunity to participate in short- and medium-range forecast videos that simulate an on-air-style broadcast. Participation in either or both the CWS and LiveStream videos bolster a student's resume and give them invaluable experience in operational forecasting prior to graduation.

The Conestoga Club gives members multiple opportunities throughout the year to explore and experience the Lancaster area's natural beauty. Members will also be given chances to travel and see other regions of our beautiful country and participate in a variety of outdoor activities. These activities might include, but are not limited to: hiking, camping, canoeing/kayaking, white-water rafting, horseback riding, rock climbing, caving, etc. These activities inherently give members a sense of closeness to nature which helps build a sense of responsibility to our environment. We do our part to fulfill this responsibility by participating in tree plantings, trail clean-ups, and other demonstrations of environmental stewardship.

The Geography Club is open to anyone with an interest in geography and the environment. Throughout the semester, we participate in various activities, events, and serve the community. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, network, have fun, learn, and explore! Geography is the study of Earth and the atmosphere's physical features, as well as the study of human activities on Earth that impact, and are impacted by, these features through changes in land use, population size, and changing the distribution of natural resources.

international association of emergency managers (IAEM)

The MU-IAEM is dedicated to promoting the "Five Principles of Emergency Management" and representing professionals whose goals are protecting property, people, and the environment during emergencies and disasters. Members will have numerous opportunities to build their emergency management experience by participating with professional speakers, tabletop exercises, and the annual IAEM conference. Club members are also given the opportunity to become a close community through fun activities, campus events, and fundraisers.

national science teachers association

The National Science Teaching Association Preservice Teacher Chapter at Millersville University (NSTA-MU) promotes the mission of NSTA, which is to transform science education to benefit all through professional learning, partnerships, and advocacy. Members will become acquainted with professional resources, publications, and opportunities provided by NSTA and given additional professional learning experiences in science education. The chapter fosters collaboration and networking among preservice science teachers at Millersville University as well as peers across the United States and Canada. Members support the development of inquiry-based, hands-on-problem-solving skills applicable to K–12 classrooms. Membership is open to all Millersville University students who are members of NSTA.

The Ocean Science Club provides its members with opportunities to increase their understanding of the marine sciences. Through the study of marine biology, oceanography, and marine ecology (and their individual disciplines), members will be provided with an exciting, insightful, and inspiring learning atmosphere. The organization also promotes environmental activism and encourages good fellowship among members and between students and their professors. The club is open to all students with no major or minor in Ocean Science required!
