Volunteer Opportunities for Students
Extra-curricular community service is something you do in addition to your academic coursework. You may complete community service through a student organization, fraternity or sorority, or club. You may enjoy helping others and want to volunteer in the local community on your own. Community service can also be a great way to get experience related to a career field you are exploring or to learn more about something totally different.
Make an appointment with one of our staff members or stop by during drop-in hours to uncover opportunities and find a great volunteer placement; some of which are right in our backyard! Use Get Connected, a United Way searchable database of nonprofit organizations and volunteer opportunities throughout Millersville and Lancaster.
Background Clearances Required
Many of our volunteer experiences have a high probability of working and having contact with children. In the state of Pennsylvania, all volunteers must have the following clearances:
Criminal Background Check (Act 34)
Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151)
FBI Federal Criminal History-Fingerprinting (Act 114)
