Zachary Chowansky

Name: Zachary Chowansky Zachary with Skeleton Model

Hometown: Ringtown, PA

Anticipated Graduation: 2024

Major: Sports Medicine

Internships/Research/Projects:

I began doing job shadowing and working with Physician Assistants in my free time back home and have taken a love for it.

Inspirations (for major, research, internship):

Ever since I was young I always enjoyed seeing people smile and laugh. That trait has carried over into my adult life and it gives me the most happiness when I can help people and make them feel good. Going into this field I want to make a difference and help people in need. If I had to choose a person as my inspiration it would be my mother. My mom has really been my inspiration my whole life, whether it be school, sports, or anything she is my number 1 fan. I always try to make her proud.

Highlights (from courses/internship/research):

I have maintained a 3.96 GPA in the Sports Medicine major throughout my first two years here.

Takeaway (from courses/internship/research):

My time here at Millersville has been amazing! Whether it be athletics, schooling, or just hanging out, it has been great. The professors are fabulous and will do everything in their power to help you succeed. I would recommend this department for anyone looking to be in the healthcare field.

Advice (for incoming freshman in your shoes):

A piece of advice I would give freshman is to never quit.  Never quit on your dreams, even if you may be struggling in the courses or life in general, DON’T QUIT! There is always help and guidance to put you on the right path. The second piece of advice I would give freshman is to not over worry. Many things in life will work themselves out and worrying will only put unwanted stress and anxiety on your body. This can build up and have negative effects on your mind and body.

Aspirations (upon graduation):

I would like to apply to PA school and begin a masters degree at an accredited Physician Assistant school.

If you are currently employed in your field, please provide professional information, where you work, when you started, etc.:

I have not started any work in my field yet. I have only started job shadowing a PA back home this past winter. I am currently in the process of finding a job to receive hours for PA school.

What has been the most significant and/or exciting aspect of your work?

The most exciting course I have taken at Millersville University has to be Anatomy and Physiology. Taking those courses really showed my interest in the human body and confirmed that I’m in the right field of study. The human body is an amazing specimen and I want to be able to help people be there best self day in and day out!

Scholarships awarded while attending Millersville University:

I have currently not been awarded any scholarship besides the scholarship from baseball.
