AHSS Fellow

Criteria

  1. Rising junior or senior.
  2. Majoring in a program housed in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
  3. Exhibits financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid. Note: You can contact the Financial Aid Office if you are not certain whether Millersville’s Cost of Attendance exceeds your FAFSA-determined Estimated Family Contribution.
  4. Intends to pursue a high-impact learning opportunity, either during the summer before their junior or senior year or in the fall semester of their junior or senior year. High impact practices include, but are not limited to: study abroad, competitive internship, artist/musician residency, and research projects. Given the current situation, consider reaching out to a faculty mentor to brainstorm ideas for an online research project or creative endeavor.
  5. Will earn academic credit for the learning opportunity.
  6. Will work with a faculty mentor.
  7. Will use funds awarded to the AHSS Fellow to partially offset the Millersville tuition needed for the learning opportunity during the summer or fall.

Applications will be evaluated according to:

  • adherence to the criteria described above
  • the value of the project
  • the student’s academic standing
  • the faculty mentor endorsement

Timeline

  1. Applications are due no later than May 5, 2021.
  2. A sub-committee of the College Council, chaired by the Coordinator of Student Success and Academic Planning, will review applications and make a recommendation to the Dean.
  3. The winner will be announced by the Dean no later than May 15, 2021.
