Post-Baccalaureate Teacher Certification

Course of Study

The preparation needed to complete the Post-Baccalaureate Certification in Mathematics program depends on the background of the candidate.  Some candidates may need to take as many as 19 courses in mathematics, education, communication, and English in order to fulfill the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s requirements.  Others may instead only need to complete a small subset of these requirements.  The planning guide found here can serve as a way for each individual to determine unofficially where he or she fits in the program.  Some candidates find it beneficial to work simultaneously on their Master’s degree in Mathematics Education; the planning guide demonstrates how this can be done.

Application Procedure

To formally apply, go to https://www.millersville.edu/apply/graduate/index.php. Transcripts will be evaluated by the Department of Mathematics as well as the Certification Office in the School of Education.  After registration is complete, a letter regarding the specific requirements will be sent to the candidate.  This letter will also include any necessary clearances, and restrictions on grade point average that will impact the candidate.  Additional questions may be directed by e-mail to the Graduate Program Coordinator, Dr. Tyrone Washington.
