Why did you join the Honors College?

I joined the Honors College because I wanted to be involved in a community that would encourage me to become the best student I can be.

How has the Honors College shaped your experience at Millersville University?

I believe the Honors College has helped me become a much more well-rounded student in terms of my communication, literary, and critical thinking skills, which will undoubtedly benefit my career. The Honors College also connected me with many other students who were willing to put in just as much hard work as I was, which inspired me to continue to put forth my best effort.

What was your favorite honors course? Why?

My favorite honors course was World Literature with Dr. Jakubiak because I got to learn about ancient literature that shaped a lot of more modern literature that I’ve read, and the stories were a lot more exciting than I previously anticipated!

What other organizations have you been a part of?

I was a part of the Millersville Marching Band in my freshman and sophomore years while I had extra time in my schedule.

What community service events have you completed while in the honors college? This does not necessarily have to be for honors college community service credit.

I participated in the Day of Caring several times, as well as various other fundraisers like Sugar Bowl Delivery to raise money for those in need.

What advice would you give to incoming Freshman?

Don’t be afraid to ask for help! There are plenty of people willing to help you, especially your professors, Dr. Thyrum, Beth, and various student services.
