Medical Technology Option – B.S.
About The Program
A Medical Technologist is a clinical laboratory scientist who performs and evaluates numerous laboratory procedures to help other health professionals diagnose, treat and prevent disease. Medical Technologists probably provide the physician with more patient information than any other health professional. Medical Technologists are in demand in hospitals, doctor’s offices, research institutions and private industry. Career opportunities include positions as clinicians, educators, researchers or administrators.
In this program, students study for three years at Millersville and then apply for admission to an accredited regional teaching hospital for one year of clinical training in medical technology. Upon successful completion of the clinical phase of the program, students receive 30 transfer credits and are awarded a BS in Biology, Medical Technology Option. After completing the required work, students may sit for a national examination, which, if successfully completed, confers board certification in medical technology.
