CAE Session: Re-engaging your students with a tip of the week

By implementing a Tip of the Week, instructors can support their students during the busiest time of the semester. Dr. Josephson will share how she has implemented a Tip of the Week into her academic and advising D2L shells and she will share student feedback on the weekly tips shared thus far.

CAE Session: Utilizing NACADA`s Core Competencies and Core Values for Effective Advising

The faculty adviser is an important resource for students. NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising encourages all advisers to adopt the framework of its core competencies and core values to improve student success. This presentation will highlight what the competencies and the values are, act as a reminder to those who are familiar with them and expound on how faculty can utilize them for effective advising.

Making the Case: Explaining & Documenting Good Teaching & Beyond

As a part of the “Making the Case” series, this session will follow up on the CAE session held in March related to Making the Case for Publicly Engaged Scholarship. In the April session, we will focus on ways to explain your teaching as you prepare your application for Tenure and Promotion. These explanations will include strategies for expanding on the interpretation of student evaluations in ways that consider the types of courses taught and the variety of strategies used in your courses. The presenters are current members of the MU Gender Issues and Social Justice committee and will consider current research related to student evaluations, recognizing their power and limitations in supporting our work as educators.
