Commencement

Millersville University is pleased to announce the commencement proceedings for the College of Graduate Studies & Adult Learning (CGSAL) will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023 at 6:00 p.m.  Anticipated length of the ceremony is two (2) hours, depending on the number of graduates participating.

The ceremony will occur in Pucillo Gymnasium, located at 125 Pucillo Drive in Millersville. Doors will open one hour prior to the ceremony for graduates and guests. 

Tickets are not required for guests to attend the CGSAL ceremony on Friday, May 5. 

CGSAL candidates will report to the Anttonen Lobby of Pucillo Gymnasium to check in for the ceremony.  Upon arrival, candidates will be directed on where to line up to process into the gymnasium.

CGSAL graduates will be hooded by their graduate coordinator and individually recognized as they walk across the stage, receive a diploma cover and are professionally photographed. All graduates will process from the gymnasium at the conclusion of the ceremony. 

With a focus on sustainability, in lieu of a paper commencement program, a QR code will be provided to graduates and guests to access a digital version of the Commencement program. Please ensure that you bring a device such as a cellphone or tablet that will enable you to scan the QR code and view the program.

Millersville University is pleased to announce the 2023 Undergraduate commencement ceremonies scheduled will be held on Saturday, May 6 with candidates being conferred at a ceremony time appointed by their College of academic study. Anticipated length of the ceremony is 2 hours, depending on the number of graduates participating.

All ceremonies on May 6 will be held in Pucillo Gymnasium, located at 125 Pucillo Drive in Millersville. Doors will open one hour prior to the ceremony for graduates and guests.

Guest tickets are required to attend the in-person ceremony. Each graduate will be allotted four guest tickets.  Visit the MU Ticket Office website for more detailed information regarding guest tickets.

All graduates will report to the Anttonen Lobby of Pucillo Gymnasium. Guests will enter the venue using the north entrance on the west side of the building.

Undergraduates will proceed directly to your seat in the gymnasium, guided by commencement marshals. Undergraduates will be seated by college.

REGALIA (CAP & GOWN)

Graduates should plan to arrive at check-in dressed in regalia (cap & gown) and ready to participate in the ceremony.

Graduates who are participating in the ceremony are required to wear the appropriate regalia which is available for purchase from the University Bookstore.

Bachelor's Cap and Gown packages include a black gown, cap, and tassel. The total price for this package is $38.50. If students are expecting honor cords for University Latin Honors, Department Honors, or University Honors College, they will be automatically included in their order for no extra fee.

Master's Cap and Gown packages include a black master's gown, cap, and tassel for $42.00.  Master's Hood sold separately at a cost of $30.00. 

Doctoral Cap and Gown packages include a black doctorate gown, cap, and tassel for $108.00.  Doctor's Hood sold separately at a cost of $208.00. Doctorate Tam & Tassel is $64.00.

personal attire

Graduates should use their own discretion as to what apparel is worn under the gown.  Reminder, you will be professionally photographed which is a lasting image of this special day for you, your family and friends.  

Footwear: Please be advised that you will be walking and standing as well as climbing stairs, so it is recommended that you wear flats or a low wedge heel.

Graduates are encouraged to limit the number of personal items brought in to the gymnasium with you.  The University is not responsible for lost or stolen items left behind.  

Tickets are required for guests to attend the in-person ceremony in Pucillo Gym.

Each undergraduate candidate will be allotted 4 guest tickets.

Master's and Doctoral degree graduates do not need a ticket.

Graduates will be able to pick up their tickets in-person at the MU Ticket Office starting on April 24, 2023 located in the Student Memorial Center.  Tickets will be distributed via the ticket office window until Friday, May 5^th, 2023.

Guest tickets should not be duplicated as each ticket has a unique code on them that will be scanned at the door of the gymnasium.  For this reason, lost tickets cannot be replaced.

You can email Ticket.Sales@millersville.edu from your MU email address if you need to have someone else pick up your tickets.  In the email, please provide your name, MU#, and name of the person that will be picking up your tickets.

General parking will be available for all ceremony attendees in all on-campus parking lots.

The Pucillo Gymnasium parking lot is exclusively reserved for guests with special needs, mobility issues, and/or with a state issued handicap placard.  Guests with limited mobility are also able to be dropped off at the entrance as directed by University Police.

Parking will also be available at the Winter Center for Visual and Performing Arts located at 60 West Cottage Avenue where the livestream of the ceremony will occur.  

All on campus parking is open and does not require a parking tag for the event.
