Au Pair Weekend Institute
Millersville University is excited to welcome au pairs to our beautiful campus for the Au Pair Weekend Institute. This uniquely fascinating course gives au pairs the opportunity to learn about Amish and U.S. culture in Lancaster County Pennsylvania.
Through 36 hours of coursework, participants will earn the equivalent of 3 credits needed to satisfy the educational requirements of the U.S. Department of State in a weekend-long program at Millersville University. The combination of classroom discussions, fieldtrips, self-reflection, and other activities provide a holistic approach to immersion in this unique culture found in the Lancaster County.

Amish Culture in Lancaster County Pennsylvania
Millersville University is located in picturesque Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, an area home to the Amish and Mennonite communities. The settlements here are some of the oldest in all of America and are rich in history and culture. Throughout this region, visitors can encounter buggy rides on the streets, attractions, tours, and foods special to the Amish.

Registration and Payment Deadlines:
Early Registration: March 23rd - Apply by this date to receive a $25 discount.
Registration Deadline: April 15th
Late Registration: Late registration is accepted on a case-by-case basis but is subject to a late fee of $25.
Included Costs
Program Fee: $350
The program fee includes:
- The course content and materials (36 hours of instruction equivalent to 3 credits)
- All excursion and activity costs/admissions fees
- Pickup from Lancaster Train Station
- All meals are included in the cost of the program and participants should list any dietary restrictions or food allergies on their registration form. (Friday = Dinner; Saturday = Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner; Sunday = Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner; additional misc. snacks)
- Program t-shirt
- Note: No charge for campus parking
Optional Costs
Lodging: On-campus lodging is available for $38/day.
Program Schedule
June 2023: June 16th - 18th
Pre-Work: Instructor will provide Pre-Work one week prior to the program.
Post-Work: Participants will provide their reflections on their class and experiences.
