Single Reed Symposium

MU Music Department's 19th Annual Single Reed Symposium!

The 18th Annual Millersville University Single Reed Symposium will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Winter Visual & Performing Arts Center, Tell School of Music, Millersville University of Pennsylvania.

Founded by Dr. Christy Banks in 2006, the Millersville University Single Reed Symposium (MUSRS) is an annual one-day festival celebrating all things clarinet and saxophone. Each spring, we welcome to our campus students, amateurs, hobbyists, and all other lovers of the clarinet and saxophone. Participants spend the day making music together in our festival choirs, learning in clinics and masterclasses, and enjoy performances by amazing guest artists.

Our list of over 40 past guest artists reads like a veritable “who’s who” of the clarinet and saxophone world, including James Campbell, Michelle Gingras, Frank Griffith, Paul Haar, Julia Heinen, Frank Kowalsky, David Krakauer, Michael Lowenstern, Eric Mandat, Russ Peterson, Robert Spring, Chris Vadala, and Steve Wilson.
