Millersvilles Music Department will host a Music Business Technology (MBT) panel discussion and workshop (Unmask the World of Music Business and Technology) for high school seniors. All students interested in a career in music business, music technology, or music performance are invited to attend. Music professionals, including Grammy award winners, will be on campus to discuss their careers as music engineers, record producers, booking agents, band managers, tour managers, and performers. Issues such as how to best prepare for careers in these areas will be discussed. In addition, participants will be able to take multiple hands-on workshops in Music Technology and the Music Business! Students will have the chance to record live musicians in one of our three recording studios and edit music using the latest music technology. The business session will address topics such as copyrighting music, touring with a band, performing rights, starting your own music company, and marketing a band. Participants will also learn how to prepare for the college admission process. Areas to be highlighted include creating a music portfolio, interviewing, and auditioning.
