  • Study Abroad: Term Participation

    October 2021:

The COVID-19 situation is dynamic and IPS is monitoring various sources to make the best decisions possible, as the safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority. IPS will continue to evaluate the approval of future study abroad terms, based on the current conditions and travel restrictions in the U.S. and overseas. Additional conditions may be implemented as study abroad transitions into the future. Decisions will be determined on a per-country/region basis for travelers of all program types. MAPS Proposals are still being accepted. View the Faculty & Staff Resources website for more proposal deadlines.

Note: Individual countries and host programs/institutions may cancel or restrict travel to U.S. citizens at any time, which would override MU approval. This may prohibit participants from moving forward.

  • Study Abroad: Refunds & Financial Policies

Students who apply for a study abroad program which is cancelled due to COVID-19 by the Office of International Programs and Services, the host university abroad, or a study abroad vendor, will be reimbursed their Millersville study abroad fee(s), including the $50 Application Fee or the $500 Participation Fee. Students may request to defer these fee(s) to a future study abroad term, or be refunded the amount.

MU and your host program/provider may make decisions at a later date that could impact your ability to participate as the situation evolves. We strongly advise you to consider this when making financial decisions regarding your experience abroad.

Refer to the Study Abroad Financial Policies for information regarding refunds for program cancellations and withdrawing from a program.
