The program in middle level education is designed to provide the student with an in-depth knowledge of subject matter (30 credit hours) in one of the three content areas (mathematics, science, and English language arts and reading), to teach 4th through 8th grades. In addition to the concentration area, candidates are expected to complete 12 credit hours in each of the remaining content areas and in social studies, a minimum of 27 credit hours in the Professional Core, and 12 credits in student teaching. Students who complete the middle level education program at Millersville University receive a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and may apply for a Pennsylvania Instructional I teaching certificate. This program can be completed in eight (8) semesters.
