Prof. Zac Fick-Cambira

Zac Fick-Cambria is an American composer, upright bassist, theorist, and educator. Navigating a sea of genre fluidity, his compositional work leans toward an aesthetic of warped rhythmic gestures and post-minimalist soundscapes. This music has been featured at festivals and workshops such as Sō Percussion Summer Institute (2021) and Nief Norf Summer Festival (2019). Additionally, his academic research was presented at the International Association for the Study of Popular Music in Canada (2025).

Fick-Cambria’s works have been premiered by prominent ensembles and performers, including Nadia Sirota, Chris Gross, LIGAMENT, Parker Quartet, Longwood Symphony Orchestra, and Esterhazy Quartet. Beyond the concert stage, his extensive studio work includes roles as an orchestral arranger and studio musician. Additionally, his work as an editor and engraver at Carl Fischer and Theodore Presser spans over five years and has garnered nine Paul Revere Music Engraving Awards from the Music Publishers Association (MPA).

Prior to joining the faculty at Millersville University, Dr. Fick-Cambria taught at the Sunderman Conservatory of Gettysburg College and currently teaches at the Community College of Baltimore County. He is a founding member of the new music organization New Uncertainty Collective, and his compositions are published by Theodore Presser Co. A graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, he holds a doctorate in composition and a master’s degree in music theory pedagogy, alongside a bachelor’s degree in composition from Berklee College of Music.
