Dr. Shanahan joined the geography faculty in the fall of 1994. His undergraduate work was completed at the University of London, UK. Graduate work at the University of Minnesota consisted of a specialization in social and cultural geography. Dr. Shanahan has published on issues related to ethnic segregation, gender and geography, and is currently researching the geography of ethnicity and class in late Victorian London. Dr. Shanahan is an editor of the international peer reviewed journal, “Environment, Space, Place”, of the International Association for the Study of Environment, Space, and Place. He teaches courses in political and urban geography, the geography of Europe, and the geography of London, U.K..
