Mr. Steven R. Pomponi ’89 and Ms. Lynn A. Pomponi ’91 are dedicated donors to Millersville University who have supported student success through the creation of a variety of scholarship endowments. The Steven R. Pomponi ’89 Occupational Health & Safety Endowed Scholarship is awarded to a rising junior Occupational Health & Safety major with CQPA of at least 3.0 who demonstrates financial need. The Lynn Ashenfelter Pomponi ’91 Endowed Mathematics Scholarship is awarded to a rising junior mathematics major with CQPA of at least 3.0 who demonstrates financial need. The Pomponis have established the Walt Edwards Ashenfelter Memorial Music Scholarship Endowment and the Audrey Pomponi Memorial Scholarship Endowment. Through the collection of scholarship endowments created by the Pomponis, Millersville University students are provided with opportunities to pursue their dreams and excel on their journey of success.
Steve Pomponi graduated from Millersville University in 1989 with a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Hygiene Management and earned a master’s degree in Safety Engineering from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. In his professional career, Steve Pomponi is Vice President, Risk and Safety Management at PSA Insurance and Financial Services. In 2017, Mr. Pomponi received the prestigious honor of being awarded the Distinguished Service to Safety Award from the National Safety Council. In recognition of his service to provide safety training to first responders, Steve Pomponi received a Letter of Recognition for service during the Hurricane Sandy response from former Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius. In his previous volunteer work, Steve devoted 15 years as a volunteer EMT/IV Tech. He has also volunteered as a board member of the Silver Spring Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) and served as Director of their Life Safety Unit, as well as serving as a member of the Maryland-1 Disaster Response Team (MD-1 DMAT). Currently, Steve volunteers with Lab Rescue (LRCP). In his free time, Steve enjoys equestrian activities. At Millersville University, Steve Pomponi currently serves as a board member of the Occupational Safety & Environmental Health (OSEH) External Advisory Board (EAB).
Lynn Pomponi graduated in 1991 from Millersville University with a bachelor’s degree with a double major in mathematics and psychology. She works as an actuary at Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. In her volunteer service, in the past she has assisted with raising future guide dogs with Guiding Eyes for the Blind, and she received a Community Service Award for her volunteer work with the Guiding Eyes for the Blind organization. In her free time, Lynn enjoys pottery, painting, drawing and postcrossing, which is an international postcard exchange program.
