EPPIIC Student Compassion Fund: Helping Students Stay on Track
The EPPIIC Student Compassion Fund was established in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, when many students faced sudden and unexpected financial challenges. What began as an immediate response has become an ongoing commitment, now an important part of what makes Millersville University, Millersville.
Today, the fund continues to provide short-term financial support to students facing unexpected circumstances that could otherwise disrupt their education. For some students, it’s a temporary gap but one that can have lasting consequences without support. A car repair, a utility bill, or an unexpected expense can quickly become a barrier to staying enrolled.
This fund exists to ensure that when those moments happen, students have somewhere to turn.
Why It Matters
Many students receiving support are balancing school with work, family responsibilities, and financial pressures.
“I am supporting a family of four on one income while trying to finish grad school.”
“I recently came out of homelessness but am still working to cover basic living expenses.”
These are students doing everything they can to continue their education. In many cases, a relatively small amount of support can help them stay on track.
How the Fund Helps
The EPPIIC Student Compassion Fund supports students with expenses such as:
- Emergency housing and safety needs
- Food and basic necessities
- Unexpected medical expenses
- Childcare costs
- Transportation and car repairs
- Educational supplies and related costs
Each request is different, but the goal is consistent: to help students continue their education without interruption.
