General Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible to receive federal student aid, you must meet the following requirements:

• Have a completed FAFSA on file with Millersville University.
• Be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen.
• Have a valid Social Security number. Students from the Republic of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Republic of Palau are exempt from this requirement.
• Have a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate, or have completed homeschooling. If you do not meet one of these requirements, you may still be eligible for federal student aid if you were enrolled in college or career school before July 1, 2012. Review federal student aid eligibility requirements for additional information.
• Be actively enrolled in a degree-seeking program that is eligible for Title IV funding.
• Be enrolled at least half-time in courses that apply to your Course Program of Study (CPOS) each semester, as defined by your program, to qualify for Federal Direct Loans.
• Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
• Not owe a refund on a federal student grant or be in default on a federal student loan.
• Register, or already be registered, with the Selective Service System if required. Students from the Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Republic of Palau are exempt from registering.
• Meet federal student aid eligibility requirements related to drug convictions. If applicable, complete the Student Aid Eligibility Worksheet to determine your eligibility for federal student aid.

Financial Need and Additional Eligibility Requirements

Some types of federal student aid, including the Federal Pell Grant and subsidized loans, also require you to demonstrate financial need.

Once you have earned a bachelor's degree or first professional degree, you are generally no longer eligible for the Federal Pell Grant or Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG).
