Financial Aid and your 3+ Program

Navigating Finances during Clinical Placement

Millersville University Allied Health students often complete their final year at a clinical site or affiliated institution. During this final phase of the 3+ program, your billing, enrollment, and financial aid may look different than in previous years.

Using Financial Aid? Here’s What You Need to Know:

The steps you need to take to receive financial aid during your clinical year depend on your specific program. Some students continue as usual, while others may need a Consortium Agreement—a contract allowing Millersville to process aid while you take courses elsewhere. Without it, credits earned at the affiliated institution or your clinical site can't be counted toward your financial aid or Cost of Attendance (COA).

💡 Pro Tip: Consortium Agreement doesn’t guarantee more aid, but it may increase your COA, giving you more room to borrow loans if needed.

Do You Need a Consortium Agreement

Not all students need a consortium; it depends on their program and personal financial needs. Some Allied Health programs require a Consortium Agreement to process financial aid during their clinical or final year. For others, it’s optional.

Your Program Type

Is a Consortium Agreement Required?

Nuclear Medicine (3+1)

or

Nuclear Medical Technology (3+1)

Yes. Required for each semester you’re requesting aid.

Respiratory Therapy (3+1)

⚠️ Only if borrowing above your current Cost of Attendance.

Athletic Training, Optometry, Podiatry, or Medicine (3+2 or 3+4)

❌ No. The graduate institution typically handles your aid.

💡 Pro Tip: Even if your program doesn’t require one, you may still complete a Consortium Agreement if you have extra costs—like higher tuition, supplies, or travel—that are above what is already included in your standard Cost of Attendance (COA).
