SLOs - BS Accounting
Students will:
- Be able to integrate and apply fundamental concepts from accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, and information technology to solve business problems.
- Be able to use data analysis and quantitative skills to solve business problems.
- Effectively work in teams to formulate appropriate solutions to accounting problems.
- Demonstrate effective oral, written, and visual communication skills.
- Understand the ethical and social responsibilities of accountants in preparing and communicating financial information.
- Understand the importance of internal controls and the effects of the regulatory environment on financial reporting.
- Apply knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and managerial accounting theories to business, governmental, and nonprofit organizations.
- Apply knowledge of federal tax laws and procedures for tax planning and the preparation of individual and business tax returns.

General Finance:
Students will:

- Demonstrate a firm understanding of the central areas of finance, including corporate finance, international finance, investments, and financial institutions & markets.
- Demonstrate effective oral, written, and visual communication skills.
- Learn to collect, analyze, synthesize, and communicate information and develop insights associated with financial problems and topics.
- Effectively work in teams to formulate appropriate solutions to financial questions.
- Recognize and understand the ethical and societal dimensions of decisions made by professionals in the finance industry.
Wealth Management:
- Show the ability to integrate across business disciplines to solve financial problems
- Students will demonstrate a firm understanding of portfolio management, including the types of domestic and global financial assets and markets available to individual and institutional investors
- Students can explain the main budgeting, debt, investing/savings and retirement decisions faced by households
- Students will be able to communicate, in written and oral form, the central topics and themes in wealth management to a broad and diverse audience
- Students will use financial software and quantitative skills to assess tradeoffs and risk associated with a variety of financial topics

Graduates of the program have the ability to:

- Analyze and evaluate organizational information systems for vulnerabilities and threats to identify the risks and make recommendations for mitigating those risks.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize risks to information systems in all industry areas and define disaster recovery plans.
- Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts with stakeholders regarding organizational security risks and make informed decisions about how to allocate resources to reduce those risks.
- Provide proficiency in cybersecurity strategies for enterprise systems, computer networks, telecommunication, World Wide Web, internet frameworks, digital data, and cloud computing.
- Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
- Plan, design, and implement security principles and practices to the organizational environments, hardware, software, and human aspects of a system.
