Advanced Children, Youth, and Families Certificate
The Advanced Children, Youth, and Families Certificate is for students enrolled in, or who have completed a master’s degree in social work and prepares them to provide culturally competent services to vulnerable children and families through a range of public and private agencies at various levels of practice. The focused curriculum includes coursework on clinical skills for working effectively with children and their families to promote positive outcomes, as well as macro skills and strategies for developing productive changes in service delivery systems. Students receive instruction in evidence-based practice and management strategies to develop competency in working with children and youth in a variety of contexts.

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Demonstrate administrative and supervision skills necessary for effective leadership within child welfare organizations, including personnel supervision, organizational decision‑making, and program oversight.
- Apply advanced social work intervention skills to develop appropriate, culturally responsive, and evidence‑informed treatment plans for children, youth, and families.
- Analyze the field of advanced social work practice with children, youth, and families by integrating knowledge of relevant policies, research, and evidence‑based best practices within child welfare systems.
- Evaluate ethical dilemmas in child welfare practice using established ethical frameworks and decision‑making models to justify professional actions consistent with social work values and standards.
